Haiti’s annual gross domestic product is less than $10 billion.
Americans spend more than $40 billion a year on their pets.
The American Red Cross has been able to raise $284 million in earthquake relief for Haiti; two days ago the U.S. Government reported that it has provided $688 million. Together, that’s about 2% of what Americans will spend on their pets in 2010.
You can see what Rush Limbaugh was thinking when he said, “We’ve already donated to Haiti. It’s called the US income tax.”
